LIPEX® Shea

Lipex Shea is a climate-compensated, optimized pure shea butter with a superior crystallization profile and high oxidative stability. It is suitable for use in a wide range of skincare applications.

All our shea is ethically sourced, both directly from the women’s groups in our Kolo Nafaso program and via our traditional established supply chain. Lipex Shea is Kolo Nafaso Mass Balance, an assurance that the volume of shea kernels AAK as a company purchases from the Kolo Nafaso program equals the volume needed to produce all shea-based products in our Personal Care portfolio. Although it is not a guarantee that Kolo Nafaso kernels are present in the product, it is a guarantee of support for the program’s continued growth. So when choosing Lipex Shea, you are helping to empower women, improve livelihoods, and secure the future of shea.

The Role of the Microbiome in Skin Longevity

A healthy, balanced microbiome is essential for maintaining the skin’s natural resilience, hydration, and immunity. Research shows that a well-functioning microbiome supports the skin barrier and can help reduce issues such as acne and eczema by preserving microbial diversity and balance.

To be considered microbiome-friendly, skincare products must:

  1. Preserve the balance between beneficial and harmful bacteria,
  2. Maintain the biodiversity of microorganisms, and
  3. Avoid disrupting the growth of key microbes specific to the body region.

As the beauty industry shifts from “anti-aging” to “longevity,” the focus is moving toward prevention, resilience, and holistic skin health—starting with the microbiome.

LIPEX® Shea is now certified microbiome-friendly under the MyMicrobiome Standard 18.11 (Face/Body). This certification confirms its ability to respect and support the skin’s microbiome balance and diversity. As “longevity” replaces “anti-aging” as the industry’s buzzword, LIPEX® Shea stands out as an ideal ingredient for formulations that prioritize long-term skin health over quick fixes.
