LIPEX® Shea

Lipex Shea is a climate-compensated, optimized pure shea butter with a superior crystallization profile and high oxidative stability. It is suitable for use in a wide range of skincare applications.

Lipex Shea is made from FairWild™ certified mass balance shea kernels. This means certified kernels from our Kolo Nafaso direct sourcing program are mixed with non-certified kernels during processing. A mass balance model allows customers to support the program without limiting supply chain requirements – empowering women shea collectors, improving livelihoods, protecting parklands, and strengthening community development.

Features and benefits

  • In addition to being made from FairWild™  certified mass balance shea kernels, Lipex Shea is one of our climate-compensated products. This means we have calculated and offset emissions with Gold Standard and Fairtrade carbon credits generated by a FairClimate Fund cookstove project in Burkina Faso that funds climate action in the shea supply base and directly improves the lives of local communities.
  • The unique fatty acid composition of Lipex Shea gives high oxidative stability. Together with the high standards governing AAK raw materials, it guarantees a longer shelf life than standard refined shea butter.
  • The stable and rapid crystallization pattern enables almost unlimited levels of use in formulations without the signs of bloom formation typically associated with standard refined shea butter.
  • Moisturizing and conditioning properties deliver softening and smoothing benefits to cosmetic formulations.
  • The high standards governing AAK raw materials guarantee a longer shelf-life than standard refined shea butter.
  • Lipex Shea is certified microbiome-friendly, which demonstrates its ability to respect the balance and diversity of the skin’s microorganisms, helping it to stay healthier, stronger, and more resilient over time.

The Role of the Microbiome in Skin Longevity

A healthy, balanced microbiome is essential for maintaining the skin’s natural resilience, hydration, and immunity. Research shows that a well-functioning microbiome supports the skin barrier and can help reduce issues such as acne and eczema by preserving microbial diversity and balance.

To be considered microbiome-friendly, skincare products must:

  1. Preserve the balance between beneficial and harmful bacteria,
  2. Maintain the biodiversity of microorganisms, and
  3. Avoid disrupting the growth of key microbes specific to the body region.

As the beauty industry shifts from “anti-aging” to “longevity,” the focus is moving toward prevention, resilience, and holistic skin health—starting with the microbiome.

LIPEX® Shea is now certified microbiome-friendly under the MyMicrobiome Standard 18.11 (Face/Body). This certification confirms its ability to respect and support the skin’s microbiome balance and diversity. As “longevity” replaces “anti-aging” as the industry’s buzzword, LIPEX® Shea stands out as an ideal ingredient for formulations that prioritize long-term skin health over quick fixes.
