Features and benefits

  • Lipex SheaLiquid TR is one of our climate-compensated shea products, which means we have calculated and offset emissions with Gold Standard and Fairtrade carbon credits generated by a FairClimate Fund cookstove project in Burkina Faso that funds climate action in the shea supply base and directly improves
    the lives of local communities.
  • Lipex SheaLiquid TR  is made from FairWild™ certified segregated shea kernels, fully traceable to the Kolo Nafaso direct sourcing program, meeting demand for verified ingredients that positively contribute to social, economic, and environmental well-being.
  • Lipex SheaLiquid TR contains a higher concentration of bioactive triterpene esters compared to refined shea butter. Triterpene esters, minor compounds naturally found in shea butter, are known for their skin-regenerating and protective properties. While refined shea butter typically contains 2-6% triterpene esters, all our AAK liquid shea butter variants offer an enhanced content of 9.5-11.5%.
  • Liquid shea expands the possibilities for innovative formulations, allowing the creation of light, fluid, and playful textures with minimal INCI lists. It also reduces the risk of crystallization and incompatibilities for worry-free formulating.
  • The liquid format allows for easy incorporation into formulations, supports low-temperature processing, and improves production efficiency. Our studies have shown that emulsions made with liquid shea  butter maintain consistent viscosity, regardless of storage temperature, ensuring reliable dispensing across packaging formats and delivering the same sensory experience every time.
  • Lipex SheaLiquid TR is certified microbiome-friendly, which demonstrates its ability to respect the balance and diversity of the skin’s microorganisms, helping it to stay healthier, stronger, and more resilient over time.

Study showing time and energy saving benefits

A controlled laboratory-scale trial showed that liquid shea saves up to 50% energy and takes 30% less production time than solid shea butter. The study compared hot processing of a body lotion made with 6% solid shea butter and low-temperature processing of the same formulation using 6% liquid shea. A sensory evaluation triangle test confirmed no significant differences between the two final formulations.

The Role of the Microbiome in Skin Longevity

A healthy, balanced microbiome is essential for maintaining the skin’s natural resilience, hydration, and immunity. Research shows that a well-functioning microbiome supports the skin barrier and can help reduce issues such as acne and eczema by preserving microbial diversity and balance.

To be considered microbiome-friendly, skincare products must:

  1. Preserve the balance between beneficial and harmful bacteria,

  2. Maintain the biodiversity of microorganisms, and

  3. Avoid disrupting the growth of key microbes specific to the body region.

As the beauty industry shifts from “anti-aging” to “longevity,” the focus is moving toward prevention, resilience, and holistic skin health—starting with the microbiome.

LIPEX® SheaLiquid TR is now certified microbiome-friendly under the MyMicrobiome Standard 18.11 (Face/Body). This certification confirms its ability to respect and support the skin’s microbiome balance and diversity. As “longevity” replaces “anti-aging” as the industry’s buzzword, LIPEX® SheaLiquid TR stands out as an ideal ingredient for formulations that prioritize long-term skin health over quick fixes.
