Reducing Scope 3 Emissions Together
Up to 80% of Scope 3 emissions from plant-based ingredients are linked to Forest, Land, and Agriculture (FLAG) activities at the start of the value chain. This poses challenges for cosmetic manufacturers, who often have limited visibility or influence over supplier practices. Effective engagement and collaboration are essential to identify CO2 hotspots and implement solutions without overburdening smallholders. This presentation explores FLAG-related risks and mitigation strategies across supply chains, including deforestation, land-use change, and agricultural practices. It also examines how aligning sustainability targets with FLAG can help suppliers and manufacturers meet climate goals, boost marketability, and future-proof supply chains.
